Update: WP, Nutter Administration Aligned
As an organization, Wireless Philadelphia clearly believes there is great value in the Initiative for a variety of purposes—most importantly, extending the profound educational opportunities provided by technology to the thousands of families in Philadelphia who do not have it. We are extremely grateful to Mayor Nutter and the Nutter Administration for the aggressive efforts they are making along with us to find a replacement for EarthLink and to breathe new life into this vital project.
Just got of the phone with earthlink, and they said that they are not signing up any new users.

Extremely encouraging! I don't use the wifi service anymore, but I have clients that do and high speed Internet service for the economically challenged is a priority, for the CHILDREN...Thank you once again, http://myphillynetwork.com

ok now that there aligned, how much longer till the project picks up? I say it will probably yake another 2 years for a new system to be in place. I would like to hear some comments from the wireless philadelpha team. I would love to see this project work, just really doesn't look good right now.

I truly hope there is a replacement in the coming days (or weeks). It would be a real shame if Wireless Philadelphia's mission of Digital Inclusion goes unfulfilled.
And this time let's hope that the replacement (if there is any) has far better customer service and a network that actually is broadband rather than my dial-up speeds that I've had with Earthlink WiFi.
